Ireli makes for a striking stop when visiting Pays Dogon, both for its numerous ancient Tellem ruins high up on the escarpment, and for the largely intact (with the help of the Mission Culturelle) former Dogon dwellings just below. It is a World Heritage site, and well worth a visit.
