If you are looking to escape the typical tourist beat, Toupere is the place for you! You will find the people warm and welcoming, and eager to share their village with travelers. There is a charming adobe mosque near the entrance to the village, just behind a “well” which – in Toupere’s days of animism – was filled with millet beer for large harvest celebrations. The stone village is located atop a large rock outcropping, and might be overlooked by those who are not keenly seeking to find this 700 year old settlement.
